The Energy Technologies Institute is a public-private partnership between global industries - BP, Caterpillar, EDF, E.ON, Rolls-Royce and Shell - and the UK Government set up to accelerate technologies necessary to help the UK meet its legally binding 2050 climate change targets.UK Government funding is provided by the Department for Business & Innovation through the Technology Strategy Board and EPSRC.The ETI provides strategic direction using its own Energy Systems Model and makes targetted investments in projects that create affordable, reliable, clean energy for heat, power, transport and the infrastructure that links them.The ETI is demonstrating technologies, developing knowledge, skills and supply-chains, informing the development of regulation, standards and policy to accelerate the deployment of affordable, secure low-carbon energy systems from 2020 to 2050.It is developing large-scale engineering solutions in offshore wind, marine energy, distributed energy, buildings, energy storage & distribution, smart systems and heat, carbon capture & storage, transport and bio energy.
